CS cemyuksel.com

I am an associate professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah and the founder of Cyber Radiance LLC, a computer graphics software company. Previously, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University, under the guidance of Doug James, after receiving my PhD degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, advised by John Keyser and Donald House.

My research interests are in computer graphics and related fields, including physically-based simulations, realistic image synthesis, rendering techniques, global illumination, sampling, GPU algorithms, graphics hardware, modeling complex geometries, knitted structures, and hair modeling, animation, and rendering.

Bulletin Board

I'm always interested in working with technically strong students. If you are interested in working with me, please read the following.

If you are already a University of Utah student, please feel free to communicate your interest in working with me anytime (the earlier the better). The best way to start would be taking one of my courses. I typically don't accept students who haven't performed exceptionally well in one of my classes. Doing an independent study with me is another good option.

If you are considering applying to the University of Utah, I would highly encourage that you do so. If you include my name in your application, I will get to see your file, though I am not always involved in the admission decisions. I would recommend including images and/or links to youtube videos about your prior graphics-related work. If you have published papers, you can include (some of) them as well. Note that the application interface does not include options for adding images or additional documents, but you can always attach such documents to other files you are uploading and/or put links in your CV. In the past years there was no application fee for domestic students and a very small fee for international students. Please check with the School of Computing to see if this is still the case.
